I Watched Him Win With a Broken Body - A Lesson I Will Never Forget
Years ago, I was at a training event. One of our team leaders had just undergone major surgery. He could barely move. Doctors told him to stay home and recover.
But he showed up anyway—bandaged, limping, dragging himself into the room like he was headed into battle.
You’d think people would be uncomfortable. You know what happened?
He gave one of the most electric, powerful talks I’ve ever heard.
People were fired up. They were inspired. They were in tears. Why?
Because they watched a man decide.
He didn’t feel good. He wasn’t 100%. But he showed up and did his job anyway.
That’s when I understood—greatness doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.
It’s easy to give a speech when you’re feeling amazing. It’s easy to perform when everything is going your way.
But when you win while you’re hurting? That’s when you earn respect.
That’s when people follow you.
That’s when you build a legacy.
