GRIT BUILDS MOMENTUM
Why Builders Keep Going When It Gets Hard
Monday | March 16, 2026

Locker Room Insight
Monday in the Million Dollar Locker Room, we talked about something every serious builder has to understand:
Grit.
Not hype.
Not shortcuts.
Not perfect timing.
Grit.
David Simnick, co-founder of Soapbox, joined us and reminded everyone that building something meaningful usually comes with setbacks, wrong turns, hard lessons, and moments when it would be easier to quit.
Soapbox had to lay off half its staff in 2017.
Revenue was declining.
Investor confidence was shaky.
The company received weak offers to sell.
But instead of folding, David and his team stayed in the fight.
Now the company is 16 times larger than it was in 2017, operating in more than 65 countries and helping donate close to 60 million bars of soap to people in need.
That is what grit looks like.
⸻
Locker Room Line of the Week
You do not build something great without getting hit.
The winners are the ones who get back up.
⸻
Wins from the Locker Room
Momentum is building inside the community this week.
• Coby Roberts shared a major opportunity involving a business sale of more than $200 million through a connection made by a newly licensed advisor
• Tighe Moore closed two HELOC deals, with one producing more profit than her husband would have made in 160 hours at his previous job
• One of our members is close to a $680,000 investment
⸻
The Lesson
Every builder loves the idea of growth.
Fewer people love what growth requires.
David talked about getting punched in the face by setbacks, learning from bad branding, making painful decisions, and continuing anyway.
That is the lesson.
The breakthrough usually comes after the mistakes.
The momentum usually comes after the struggle.
The people who win big are not the ones who avoid hard seasons.
They are the ones who keep building through them.

Big Hitters Tip of the Week
Here is this week’s Big Hitters Tip.
Go talk to your best customers, best clients, or best people this week.
Ask them one simple question:
What do you value most about what we do?
David emphasized that too many builders ignore one of the greatest assets they already have — direct insight from the people who already believe in the mission.
The closer you stay to the people you serve, the stronger your momentum becomes.
⸻
The Big Hitters Code
Big Hitters do not fold when things get hard.
⸻
The Big Hitters Question
Where in your life or business do you need more grit right now?
Reply and tell us.
We may feature it in next week’s newsletter.
